Following this weekend's announcement that all of NSW and ACT have entered a state-wide lockdown and are under stay-at-home orders, please ensure you are across what this means for you and your business.
It was also announced on Monday 16 August, that Melbourne's lockdown has been extended for a further two weeks with a 9pm - 5am curfew.
Commercial landlords in NSW are now required by law to provide rental relief to tenants with an annual turnover of up to $50m. The rental relief "should be equal to the tenant's decline in turnover and at least half must be in the form of a waiver, and the balance a deferral" said Damian Tudehope, Minister for Finance and Small Business.
Eligible commercial landowners are able to apply for land tax relief for up to 100 per cent of their land tax liability for 2021. To be eligible, the landowner must have reduced rent for the affected tenant by at least the amount being claimed for any period between July 1 and December 31 this year.
