10. Brand

Brand isn’t your logo or your colours—it’s what people think and feel when they experience your business. It’s the sum of every touchpoint, every impression, and every promise you make or break. In this session, we’ll help you clarify your positioning and turn your brand into a powerful tool for growth and trust.

Key Concepts

  1. Your brand is how the world experiences your business—from your people and product to your pricing and presentation. Every touchpoint matters.

  2. Master the fundamentals: Product, Place, Price, Promotion—and Experience, Every Place, Exchange, Evangelism. These frameworks shape how your brand is seen and felt.

  3. Your brand must be expressed clearly and consistently across all platforms—website, emails, offices, and even social media. If it’s inconsistent, it’s confusing.

  4. A strong brand radiates energy. Use your voice, story, and platforms to show who you are. People buy into people—not just products.

Welcome back to Session 10 of the Progress Pyramid—Kelly+Partners’ unique and proprietary way of helping you deal with the thunderstorm that is business ownership.

Let’s talk about brand.

Everyone's heard of the Four Ps of Marketing—and if you haven’t, you can Google them. But here’s the thing: I walk into businesses and ask,
“Tell me about your brand. Walk me through your Four Ps.”
And most people—many of whom went to university—can’t do it.

At Kelly+Partners, we’re clear:
Our product is forward-looking financial advice.

So our place—where we deliver that—is designed to be accessible:
Text, WhatsApp, phone calls—whatever our clients need.

Our pricing is fixed fee—no surprises.

Our positioning?
We’ve got a system that can change your life and help you make real progress.

All of that rolls up into a simple promise:

We exist to make our clients Better Off.

Now, beyond the Four Ps, there are also the Four Es of Marketing:
Experience, Every Place, Exchange, and Evangelism.
If you haven’t seen them, go look them up—and more importantly, build a plan around them.

If you don’t understand the Four Ps and the Four Es—and you haven’t written them down—you haven’t made the investment in the internal clarity your business needs to grow.

Because every brand touchpoint—your website, your emails, your office, your presentations—they should all communicate your brand positions consistently and deliberately.

Let me give you an example.

People ask me,
“Brett, why do you have a personal Instagram?”
Well, I’ve got a lot of friends and clients who follow me there. And what am I doing?

I’m not just posting pictures. I’m sharing my energy—the dynamism of my life and work—so they understand:

Yes, Brett works in accounting—but he’s not boring, lifeless, or stuck in the past.

I want people to see that I’m innovative, energetic, and committed to driving progress.

Now, to take action on this, go grab the brand worksheet in the back of your workbook. Start writing down what you need to do to improve your brand.

Remember:
Brand isn’t one thing—it’s everything.

The good news?
You don’t need to hire a consultant. You need a pen, a ruler, and a few great books.

Start with:

  • The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing

  • The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding
Both by Al Ries and Jack Trout.

Those books? They’re a masterclass in branding and marketing.

Read them. Learn them. Live them.
Become a learned business owner—not just someone running a business.

I hope that makes sense.
